Meet Briana

Exercise to stimulate, not to annihilate. The world wasn’t formed in a day, and neither were we. Set small goals and build upon them.” –Lee Haney

My name is Briana Martinez and I am truly excited to be a trainer here at Ovox. From a very early age I was exposed to the athletic world and loved to push my body passed my limits. At the age of two I began dancing 5 times a week. Jazz, ballet, lyrical, tap, and hip-hop. Dance requires incredible flexibility, balance, strength, and coordination. Once I was exposed to sports, I immediately noticed the direct translation of these skills into my athletic performance.

Having a competitive nature drove me to play in every sport growing up. In high school, I was a three-sport varsity athlete. While Volleyball was my main sport, I enjoyed Track and field as well as softball. I still managed to dance 5 times a week to give me a competitive advantage. Dance improved my speed and agility, boosted my cardiovascular endurance, and increased my range of motion. This taught me valuable lessons in time management and self-motivation.

The little time I had to myself was mostly spent running, the simplest and purest form of exercise. My mental toughness and physical capacity for hard work makes me feel invincible every time I finish a run. I take part in about 10 races a year ranging from 5k’s all the way to half marathons.

While in college, I found my passion for training others and helping them achieve their goals. Studying Kinesiology at the University of Massachusetts taught me how the body worked and how to approach it from all angels. I was fortunate to have been given the responsibility of becoming a trainer and group fitness instructor for their rec department. This eye-opening experience took my college education to the next level. After receiving my Bachelor of science in Kinesiology, I set my sites on being the best trainer I could be by embracing what I love most, perfecting our bodies.

Not only should we get stronger and leaner but we should focus on nutrition as well.  Nutrition is something that is near and dear to my heart. Having a gluten sensitivity and endless food allergies has challenged me to adapt to every type of dietary constriction. This experience helps me inform clients on how to make smart choices when it comes to eating.

I am thrilled to be a part of the OVOX team. I love the atmosphere and culture our team has created for our members. We are unique and strong willed, setting us apart from any other gym around.
